2017-2018 Winter Transfer Window

Posted by THE POLICE almost 7 years ago · 68 replies

One of the most important Winter transfer window for Arsenal considering there are lots of news going around in terms of exit, rather than any new arrival during this January (which is the usual media stories).

Its a major talking point since the key players like Sanchez, Ozil, Giroud, Wilshere, Walcott etc. are hyped to leave the club in January, if the right offer comes. And ofcourse, we have been linked to sign every other players available in the transfer market, as ever.

WinterTransfers

On Exits:
Arsenal launched a last attempt to make Ozil to stay at the club, however Sanchez's saga is still continuing as his contract expires in 6 months time and he's free to talk to any clubs to sign with during next summer. Ozil is wanted by ManUtd and Barcelona, whereas ManCity could attempt again for Sanchez as PSG is also looming around.

Giroud has scored some important goals this season, albeit coming off from bench on most occasions, he is looking to move either permanent or on a loan deal in order to keep his place for France at the World cup next summer. With Marseille and Everton are looking to sign him, its highly likely that he could leave this January unless Wenger persuade him to stay.

Similarly Wilshere also kept out of starting lineup, except Europa games, and looking for regular starts in order to play for England at World cup. He will be out of contract next summer and West Ham and Real Betis are interested in his signing during this January.

Another player rumored to leave if right offer comes is Walcott, as his role is limited with the new formation of 3-4-2-1 and only limited to cup games appearance. Both Everton and West Ham are looking for a first team striker, an offer of £25m might tempt Arsenal to part with the longest serving player.

On arrivals:
It will be most likely a regular quiet winter transfer window for Arsenal, unless we lose some players. There are lots of names floating around that we sign them during this January, like Lemar, Fekir, Goretzka, Turan, Nzonzi, Richarlison etc. and its unlikely that we get them now, but might be possible during next summer window.

Do you know who would push Xhaka? Jorginho from Napoli who has a better pass percentage than Xhaka and has more mobility.

Do you mean Xhaka has nightmares about that player from another club?

If this is true, I will jump on Wenger out. Better to give game time to Nketiah then to Welbeck.

Arsene Wenger has reportedly stopped Danny Welbeck from going out on loan to Besiktas this month because Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United leaves Arsenal short up front.

Welbeck we could sell for 20 million and Nketiah would be given some time on the pitch. Although, give him a ton of rest because I don't want him to turn into Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, or Abou Diaby; a lot of potential at the beginning but never reaching it due to injuries. More or less Wilshere in some aspects.

Well, this makes me sad, I know many wanted Theo out, but it's sad to see him gone.

It's sad to see him go. He's a great guy but he just isn't right for what Arsenal needs right now. Everton will be a good fit for him.

Definitely, after the big injury and got benched (sometimes not even that) he was done here. It's just that I feel he could have given lot more then Iwobi/Welbeck who were forced this season. This looks more like clearing out the wage.

Gibbs.. Ox.. Coquelin.. Walcott..

Arsene's core young group is being dismantled now..

Walcott is a good player, but never achieved his full potential other than few glimpse... Good luck to him at Everton!!

Surprisingly ARSENAL is all over the transfer news in January market...

By looking at the transfer activities, seems Arsene is losing control (to Sven) over transfer proceedings now...

Giroud
Is it though

I'm totally ok with that. I don't think it's a coincidence that after Sven was hired, the Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang deals actually made ground. Not only is he really working to bring in talented players he has experience with, Sven is scouting for talent better than Arsene has for the past 10 years.

Wenger found that talent but isn't as persuasive in signing them. With Kante, he signed for Chelsea because he said they wanted him more.

Sven is also good at finding players that no one has heard of in the middle of nowhere and turn them into world-class players.

With both transfer windows, we are making over 50 million in profit! Other windows, we would buy more than we sold but in this case, quite the opposite. And it is probably going to grow if we sell Sanchez.

Adding that up, we would have at least 90 million in the black. There should be no excuse for we can't buy spend when we could have possibly at least 90 million (not including Giroud swapping with Aubameyang if that scenario happens).

With the Sven and Raul, Wenger is losing control which would hopefully sign us a class player for once.

Wenger is always superior when it comes to scouting.. spotting young talents and potential stars.. But only problem is his reluctance to pay that extra money to persuade them.. remember Xabi Alonso, Hazard, Kante etc.

Now Sven is having more control over transfer proceedings, even Wenger has not aware of all these deals (status) in place now..

The point is, Arsenal is started preparing life after Wenger now...

This surely a good thing because if Wenger left before that FA Cup win, we would be in trouble because he controlled most of the facilities at the club. We would have been desperate so by getting Raul and Sven, we got ourselves people that can replace Wenger in certain fields he monopolized.

And we got these guys in the same year so, in that perspective, it was worth the two-year extension.

Now if we can bring in Simeone or Ancelotti we should see an upswing in the club, even with the current board and owner (who definitely need to go)

IF its true that Wenger was one man billion worth football club then I question everyone around him. Its impossible to lead a club like that, if true then Wenger is superhuman. To me it looks we had/have incompetence. This shouldn't be a move to prepare the club for life after Wenger it should have been a move to improve the club whoever was the manager.
