Wait so let me get this straight...you still think that Wenger is going to suddenly change his ways after 20 years of doing the exact same thing every season? The only thing Wenger has changed since he arrived is to change from a 4-4-2 to a 4-2-3-1 in the mid-noughties.

No, I say we'll never win because he has been consistently getting around 73-76 points in the league, which could win you the title 15 years ago, but in 2016 won't win you the title. We need to break 80 points to win the league, and the likelihood of that happening under Wenger again grows smaller for every player our rivals strengthen by.

History proves you realistically need 80+ points to win the Premier League: there is no single example of a winner getting less than 80 points in the last 16 years.

Wenger's average league season points are nowhere near good enough to mount a title challenge. Data proves that his average season points haven't actually declined: he's on roughly the same average now as he was during the invincibles.

The variable that has changed since we were winning trophies is external (Chelsea and Man City getting rich, other managers becoming better at tactics, other clubs competing for the same players we are, etc). The only constant in this equation is Wenger and his philosophy. He is the only person who has been at the club for the duration of this time, and the only person with remarkably consistent performance data.

We've tried changing players, and that didn't help. We've had everything from absolute dog shit players (Chamakh, etc) to world-beating superstars (Özil, etc) and the average didn't budge. So it can't be the players. We've changed the board and every single staff member position and the average didn't budge. So it can't be the board or staff. We've changed stadiums and sponsors to increase our revenue and the average didn't budge. So it can't be our finances.

There is only one variable left, and the fact that no other external or internal variable has altered the average is evidence that Wenger is the one remaining obstacle for this club to improve its league points average to 80+ to become title-challengers again. Not only that, but the fact that no other variable alters the average is a clear indication that a new manager would most likely improve the fortunes of our club.

That's why I have lost faith in Wenger. Math.

No, but most did. Alex Ferguson averaged 82.7, for example. Never got less than 75 points in 17 years at Man Utd, and never got less than 80 points in his last eight years at the club.
