Paul Scholes talks bollocks about Arsenal in The Independent
Pure banter. Scholes being a pre-fixture troll of the highest order.
When it came to playing Arsenal over the last eight years of my career at United, we always went into games against them feeling like we would win – and we usually did.
Arsenal wanted to be like Barcelona but they just were not as good.
Over the years, the big players who were really ambitious – Vieira, Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie – have all left. They left for the simple reason that Arsenal are not in it to win league titles any more.
I think Mesut Özil took the easy option joining Arsenal. Since he has been there you cannot doubt his quality but at times he looks like he is going through the motions, however much ground he covers. At Real Madrid he had a chance of winning league titles. At Arsenal that is not on the cards.
My issue with Arsenal is that I don’t think they are striving to be like the great teams of theirs who used to battle us for the league title. They seem happy to finish fourth every year.
I forget...where did the great title-fighters Man Utd end last season? Oh yeah...
Wenger's response:
And by the way, how the fuck is joining Arsenal "the easy option"? If anything, staying at Real Madrid and letting Cristiano Ronaldo win everything for you would be the easier option. Coming to Arsenal is most definitely the hard option.

Not that I agree with Paul Scholes, but I think he as referring to how Özil had to fight for his place if he had stayed in Real Madrid with Isco coming in, as opposed to coming to Arsenal and getting guaranteed first team place. As you stated, Wenger plays his most expensive players.

Bollocks. Isco wasn't and still isn't starting week in week out for them. He was sold because it's Real Madrid. They need new stars every year. Bale, James etc. Shitty and shady club in a shitty and shady league. Hate them both Barca and Real Madrid.
