Still don't rate him. Dependable for around 15 league goals but in no way shape or form good enough to start for a title challenging side

He was for a while. Last season he was statistically head to head with an in form Diego Costa up until the last handful of games. Giroud is out of form now so a bit harsh to judge him at the moment.

No, Giroud was in a purple patch, that was all. His form of the tail end of last season and now his current streak of 20 games with 1 goal goes to show that he is simply a slightly above average striker. Nothing more, nothing less.

Maybe. Or he was performing to his standard level then and is currently out of form. Only time will tell. He still wins headers like they owe him money. Would be great in a 4-4-2.

I think we can all agree that Giroud's biggest problem is the fact that he's either in form and great or out of form and complete trash. There's no middle ground, it's one extreme or the other. This is not the foundation for a reliable first team striker.
I think Giroud is valuable on a 25 mean squad. Tactically, there are games where he provides an advantage in the box (but, please, not as a lone striker) and he is great to throw out a a starter in domestic cup matches. As the lynchpin of a title winning squad, he simply does not cut it.
