Squad as thin as a blade- no cover for CDM, LW,CAM,CM

Posted by arnesh about 9 years ago · 4 replies

despite being one of the clubs loaded with money, why is our squad so thin?. is it the over attachment to the veteran players and over belief in the potential of the young ones? or stubbornness to stand out for what Mr. Wenger is know for i.e. Prudent and developing talents. why does he have to take such risks, off course it is the only way youngsters can step up to fill the void but how often can that happen. we are extremely lucky enough to have cooquelin and belerin emerge. will it happen always? no it did not and counting on that would be extreme stupidity i would say but that is what amazed me the most in wenger and still amazes me. it is just that such continued failure in Europe brings in a lot of questions for us to retrospect. From today's match it is clearly evident that arteta is a disaster now(i think even Mr. Wenger agrees on this), not that i hate him it is just that he is well past his age, ox even though is only 21 but still switches off in between making him unreliable, walcott needs a lot more to be a competent title wining striker who is the only hope in striker position, and cazorla, ramsey, ozil and sanchez are uncovered. so apparently we dont have enough midfielders, in a club know for it's technically gifted midfielders. what is going on is beyond me here!!!!!!!! , only petr cech seriously wenger ? , i know there are not much quality strikers what about a defensive midfielder? what about some wingers ,(Don't say ox as winger, he is better suited at the centre with a free dribbling role like hazard). it has become a rinse and repeat process . why would star players come to our club if we flop this way in Europe??? , later all the money you saved being prudent will not be of the same value as a few trophies(read as EPL and CL, not FA or capital one or community shield for god sake) in the the cabinet, you have messed it up for quite a long time not it is up to you to leave it as a mess and give up or artistically make it a portrait,

  • CDM: Coquelin, Arteta & Flamini. Last two aren't anywhere near good enough.
  • CM: Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky. First three are fine but Jack's a sicknote and this injury could be the beginning of the end for him
  • CAM: Özil, Cazorla, Rosicky, Wilshere. Decent options
  • LW: Alexis, Welbeck, Ox. Okay, ridiculous quality gap from Alexis to Welbz

Rosicky, wilshere, welbeck out until January, that leaves cazorla, Ramsey, ozil to fill up 2 positions. and not to mention right wing is empty without ramsey/ox. so on a whole we have 6 players worthy of starting for a top half epl team in 5 positions !!!!!!!!!!!!(CDM,CM,CAM,LW,RW) please don't tell me Arteta or flamini are starters. they ll not even start for leicester, for god's sake. if you dont call this thin i do not know what is !!!!!!! :(

I would classify Theo and campbell as wingers too. The real problem is the cover for coq and the absolute dearth of forwards on the team.

This is not to say they have any depth worthy of seeing the field at cm, lw and rw.
