Szczesny with a bit of sobering self insight

Posted by Ix Techau almost 9 years ago · 7 replies

I watch all Arsenal games, of course. And I hope they will be champions, honestly. I spoke to Theo Walcott yesterday and told him they have to win it, but it's gonna make me look like some kind of idiot. They never won it when I was there and now..."oh look, Szczesny is gone so it's obvious what the problem was".

I might be joking, but it's still a bit, you know...maybe it's true after all. But nah, easy, I was there for four seasons out of ten, there were other keepers before me and we didn't win the title either.

Of course it stings a bit, I won't say it hurts because I'm an Arsenal fan and when I watch the games I always want them to win, I really hope they will be champions...but it's obvious that I'd prefer to see them win games 5-4 rather than 1-0.

Cheer up, buddy. Soon you'll be the best second-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal.

I'm glad we signed Cech, but i have personally never thought Szczesny was the issue. Was good enough to be 1st team keeper IMO.

Woj will benefit from sitting on the bench. But he'll need someone to guide him through that time. Has to work to get physically bigger, improve his attitude and he will become a top top keeper. But I really want Forster....

Problem is we've already given him years of being first-choice, so why should he take a step back in his career when there will be plenty of top-flight teams willing to take him on as their #1? I just can't see him sitting on the bench at Arsenal.
