2017-2018 Winter Transfer Window

Posted by THE POLICE about 7 years ago · 68 replies

One of the most important Winter transfer window for Arsenal considering there are lots of news going around in terms of exit, rather than any new arrival during this January (which is the usual media stories).

Its a major talking point since the key players like Sanchez, Ozil, Giroud, Wilshere, Walcott etc. are hyped to leave the club in January, if the right offer comes. And ofcourse, we have been linked to sign every other players available in the transfer market, as ever.

WinterTransfers

On Exits:
Arsenal launched a last attempt to make Ozil to stay at the club, however Sanchez's saga is still continuing as his contract expires in 6 months time and he's free to talk to any clubs to sign with during next summer. Ozil is wanted by ManUtd and Barcelona, whereas ManCity could attempt again for Sanchez as PSG is also looming around.

Giroud has scored some important goals this season, albeit coming off from bench on most occasions, he is looking to move either permanent or on a loan deal in order to keep his place for France at the World cup next summer. With Marseille and Everton are looking to sign him, its highly likely that he could leave this January unless Wenger persuade him to stay.

Similarly Wilshere also kept out of starting lineup, except Europa games, and looking for regular starts in order to play for England at World cup. He will be out of contract next summer and West Ham and Real Betis are interested in his signing during this January.

Another player rumored to leave if right offer comes is Walcott, as his role is limited with the new formation of 3-4-2-1 and only limited to cup games appearance. Both Everton and West Ham are looking for a first team striker, an offer of £25m might tempt Arsenal to part with the longest serving player.

On arrivals:
It will be most likely a regular quiet winter transfer window for Arsenal, unless we lose some players. There are lots of names floating around that we sign them during this January, like Lemar, Fekir, Goretzka, Turan, Nzonzi, Richarlison etc. and its unlikely that we get them now, but might be possible during next summer window.

Sell Sanchez and keep Ozil. Teams will pay big money for Sanchez and not so much for Ozil. Sanchez is not playing well and could use that money to buy a replacement like Lemar, Draxler, or Julian Brandt.

We can't sign the main replacement for Sanchez in January, either they are unavailable or too costly...

Or we can get some unknown guy from South America who becomes world-class in a few weeks. Bargain, however, very unlikely unless Wenger kept his eye on this guy for some time.

Actually, seeing how Watford, Bordeaux, Barcelona, and Man City got a flair attacker from South America, it doesn't seem too bad to put our hand in that market.

Richardson was supposed to be a flop at Watford. Now, he is their best player. Gabriel Jesus is starting with City. Barcelona had the best trio in the world with Neymar and Messi. Malcolm is wrecking Ligue 1 with his skill. And the list goes on.

Sanchez will leave but shouldn't be missed if we get one of the players above or give a young attacker from South America a chance to shine here. Plus, it could be a bargain.

Mahrez is not enough. It's a start but we need more quality like a defensive minded holding midfielder like Gilberto.

Mahrez and Lemar would be nice to cover for injuries/fautigue/loss of sanchez, and a cb for squad rotation in the europa league (and to cover for injuries as well)

Arsenal will most likely to miss out on all top targets (as usual)...

Goretzka might endup at Bayern and Lemar may join Liverpool to replace Coutinho... that leaves we have only Mahrez (not a frist choice) to sign, unless another club comes in for him..

No
Uh, "no"...

I'm Greek and the fact that Sven saw him and is trying to get him is amazing. Also, the club said that the transfer fee is like Neymar's transfer fee for Barcelona because of how little money they collect after transfers.

Also, he is not a starter yet. Werder Bremen want him on loan so he would get first-team game time in one of the best leagues in the world to help him adjust to the Premier League.

His name in Greek (according to Google Translate) means Blackbird. We might have a nickname for him yet.

Giroud
Is it though

It's confirmed. We made a potential signing for the Greek center back. Let's just hope he delivers the potential Mislintat saw in him and for us to buy more of these guys.

We may have Maitland-Niles, but what about getting Philipp Max from Ausburg. This guy is an amazing left back who has scored 1 goal and assisted 8. And he is only a left-back. At only 24 years old, he still has room to grow and can help us create more goals on the wing which is something we lack.

Arsenal are expected to sell a number of first-team players over the next six months with Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Francis Coquelin and Mathieu Debuchy among the players who are seeking permanent transfers away from the club.

Germany talisman Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere have yet to sign new contracts although proposals have now been made to both player’s representatives.

20 million for Alexis... that's some serious lowball offer especially from a team in the same league. But still better than losing him in 6 months to the same team for a free

Yeah it's unfortunate that we can't demand more since they could just wait 6 months, while Coutinho is selling for 7x more to a foreign club

We did sell Coquelin today for a low price. However, we made a profit on him and it also creates room for other players like Willock, McGuane, Goretzka*, and maybe N'Zonzi*.

*Assuming that they signed for Arsenal.
