Injury stats massively improved from last year, Forsythe has done wonders

Posted by Ix Techau about 9 years ago · 48 replies

Updated the Injury Room to show comparison percentages between current period (1 July to today) and the same period last season, and the numbers are astonishing. Forsythe and his team must be doing something right, as some of these numbers seem to good to be true:

  • Number of injuries have gone down to half
  • Only lost a third of the number of days we did last year
  • Avg days out per injury improved by a third
  • Much fewer injuries lasting more than a week

Only proper long-term injuries are Welbeck and Wilshere, two players we can arguably survive without for the time being. Main concerns would be losing key players like Sanchez, Coquelin, Kos, etc.

Same old story with Walcott - we should expect another big injury too as a major tournament is approaching for England next summer. He has been cursed ever since being taken to the World Cup as a kid.

But he's still a doubt for Tottenham, because he's picked up an injury and they don't know how serious it is

They said he was on the bench as a precaution, because their internal system flagged a potential risk of injury in his hip. He was on the bench so could obviously play if absolutely needed. Or are you saying the injury was picked up in Munich pre-game? They don't have to put him on the bench, so it makes no sense to me that he would be unable to play.

Fair enough. But Wenger's post-match presser indicated he's also a doubt for Spurs, so I would've thought it's slightly more than a precaution since these are two massive games and he's our best CB.

Yeah I have no idea what is going on. Makes no sense for him to be on the bench if he's unable to play. Or he's injured but Wenger didn't want that fact to take over the game.

He was probably on the bench because they were unable to put a player on the bench to replace him lol

It was most likely a precaution. He probably could play if deemed necessary but it's safe to assume it would've only happened if Chambers & Gibbs had to come on and one or both got injured.

Koscielny still not 100% confirmed as fit. He has a 'chance' to play, which probably means he'll sit it out given Wenger's usual code

Not 100% confirmed as actually being injured either. Probably won't know until the NLD line-ups are confirmed. Reports say he was fit to play against Bayern, but was rested. Official website says he's injured, although not much to lean on there seeing as it's not actually Arsenal Football Club running the website - they don't know that much more than we do.

I'm guessing he picked up something minor before the game against Bayern/After Swansea so he was excluded in the starting XI last minute

Confirmed now, he is injured and has a "80% chance" of playing against Spurs.

Ten first-team injuries now. Can I retract my earlier statement about Forsythe? But in all seriousness we're actually still in very good shape compared to last season. The only stat we're behind on is the very long-term injuries - when it comes to injuries lasting 90 days or more we're 63% up compared to same period 2014-2015.

I think the injury troubles can be attributed to you starting this thread. It's not a coincidence.

Is Walcott really out for another month? I heard Wenger said it would a bit longer than OXO but not heard him say it would be Christmas before he is back...

There is no official timeline, but January is what I've been told in a very rare ITK moment. Could be completely wrong, only one way to find out.

That sucks. Walcott leading the front line was a pleasure. Cannot say I am surprised that he has been hobbled.
