The international break thread

Posted by jimmythecuckoo over 8 years ago · 13 replies

I need a thread to calm my nerves and talk about something else during the international breaks this season.

I just want all of our players to go and play well for their countries but come back uninjured.

Don't see that happening though based on past form.

Who do we think is the most likely to come back from international duty broken?

If the board does wise up and replace wenger after this season, they better choose wisely

If losing Özil and Sanchez is your main worry, what manager do you think Arsenal need to hire to keep them? I also want Wenger gone, but struggling to come up with a realistic name if keeping our current players is the number one priority.

And of those seven, probably 3 were injuries which were actually picked up with arsenal, but ignored until the national team training staff noticed it (eg, ozils knee in 2014).

I think that the topic to discuss during international break is Ozil and Alexis contact status, and how wengers negligence is going to lead to their departure for peanuts when it becomes apparent wenger can't convince them to stay.

If the board does wise up and replace wenger after this season, they better choose wisely, since a squad with its 2 lynchpins entering the final year of their contracts is a rather difficult situation for a manager to inherit.

Wenger has gone on record so many times about how he intends to leave the squad in a good position for his successor to take over, but the reality is that he has set the squad up for failure should he choose to depart after his contract runs.

I don't see either signing right now.

We need to be top two in the league and out of our UCL group before I see either of them committing to the project (as we seem to have to say in football nowadays).

that's the problem, many wants Arsene out but don't have a realistic name who can succeed him... Arsene should be replaced only by a proven Manager who can attract top players and take this club to next level...

Between, Lets hope our players do well at international games and return with good match fitness IMO......

I've never felt more apathetic about International football than I do now.

Maybe they should scrap it and have national team affiliation based on the leagues that players play for?

Alexis was brilliant against Uruguay and scored 2 goals... Hope he keep this form against ManU as well..

Fucking hell Alexis! Here's Guardiola telling him to fuck off once he pulls his hammy after playing 90 mins for Chile while Barca advised him not to... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHuzvVJAdL4

What can clubs do in these situations? Can they refuse to pay the guys salary or at least cut it?
