2017-2018 Summer Transfer Window

Posted by Ix Techau almost 8 years ago · 461 replies

Squad rules terminology refresher:

  • We can register up to 25 players who are over 21
  • We can register a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players
  • Homegrown player means 36 months spent in England before end of season in which they turn 21
  • U21 player means any player born on or after January 1st 1996
  • U21 players don't have to be registered in order to play, which means we can have as many as we want

Confirmed transfers in/out:

  • Lacazette has signed for a club record £46m initial fee
  • Sanogo left on a free transfer on June 30th
  • Kolasinac joined on a free transfer on July 1st
  • Ospina has asked to be put on the transfer list
  • Lucas Perez has asked to be put on the transfer list
  • Wojciech Szczesny has joined Juventus for £10m

Likely transfers in/out:

  • Debuchy leaving has been on the cards for some time
  • Jenkinson could go on another season-long loan or permanent move
  • Unless said in jest, Wenger did say he wants to bid on Mahrez

Reading some of the suggestions that were posted here... Looks like Arsenalreport has finally gone full retard. Bring back Cesc? Young players will look up to him? To who? The cunt who stabbed us in the back? Cretins.

We may also look into the players who will be free this summer, to add some much needed experience and leadership to the side.. How about Yaya Toure & De Rossi to bolster our midfield?

Maybe get young players who can start for our club like Serge Gnabry, Adrian Rabiot, or even Raphael Varane.

Also, let's get a manager who will make our players uncomfortable in a way that they don't go to the Champions league and give up if we lose one of our best players. That is just two high fives for Bayern and two middle fingers for us.

Also, we should get rid of dead wood like Mertesacker, Coquelin, Debuchy, Jenkinson, and maybe Monreal. Then get someone to replace them that will improve us.

Maybe for this window, we should focus more on strikers, midfielders, and maybe goalkeepers. That way, we can focus more in one area and possibly get someone instead of focusing part of attention on everything else. Ex: Focus on getting the world-class striker you want until you get him and then focus on the next thing.

I agree. It's most important to get a talisman. The problem is the unwillingness to pay market wage.

I know Wenger likes getting the price he wants to pay but at the moment, we are pretty desperate for world-class players, we can't afford to just lose them or even miss out on the players we need. Especially when you could have gotten Luis Suarez for $999,999,999 more.

Arsene Wenger plans to extend his Arsenal contract and has drawn up a 10-man shortlist of transfer targets to account for the possible departures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Mirror.

Alexandre Lacazette, Kylian Mbappe, Marco Reus and Moussa Dembele are among their forward options, while Jack Butland, Jordan Pickford, Joe Hart, Jose Gaya and Kieran Tierney are being considered in goal and at left-back.

In midfield, Ross Barkley could come in with Aaron Ramsey going out in a spending spree that could top £100 million.

Life with or without Alexis and Mesut should culminate in a 433 regardless.

Xhaka being partnered by 2 box-to-box midfielders: Naby Keita, Nainggolan, Tolisso etc

Özil RW, Alexis/Proper striker in the middle with Alexis/Proper winger on the left handside.

I'd say if we get the players we need, then we won't miss Sanchez or Ozil.

We should have a manager that said they wanted to be the next Arsenal manager by now if we really want to get rid of Arsene.

I know Wenger's future at the club is affecting the club a little, he is willing to stay if we can't find anyone and leave if we find that man. That man would look like a hero since Wenger did a lot of hard work for the club. You have to admit that at least.
