Sanchez is better n10 than Ozil (who is a fraud)

Posted by TopTopQuality over 9 years ago · 46 replies

Watch this compilation, ignore the goals and dribbling, just watch his passing. https://youtu.be/zu_GJNsqh80?t=2m35s

Ozil is a fraud who is a waste of space in the n10 position. They don't click with Sanchez because Sanchez always cuts inside and they get in each other's ways.

Sanchez scored 20+ goals in his first season despite playing out wide.

Imagine how many he would score playing behind Giroud. Plus Sanchez is one of the best dribblers in the world.

His potential is being wasted out wide. If he got a full season playing as n10 he'd be a Balon D'Or nominee with a couple of seasons.

I really wish PSG bid for Ozil £50m and we accept, flog him, and bid £60m for Lewandowski.

But pretty much all Arsenal fans are in such denial, "OZIL IS WORLD CLASS, HE CAN'T DO NO WRONG!!! BECAUSE HE COST A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY!!!". I really hope he gets injured and we get a full season of Sanchez as n10. Plus there's plenty of cover to rotate him against lesser teams to prevent a burn out - Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky.

What I'm saying is if Sanchez was playing behind Giroud, he'd have a much better contribution than Ozil.

This is an assumption, at best. What are you basing it on? Ronaldo is a beast on the wing, doesn't mean he'd do a better job at #10 than Özil, James, etc. Just because you're good in one position doesn't mean you'll be great in another. It's a huge difference between flank and central play. In the middle you are often outmuscled, outnumbered and lack clear options due to overcrowding. On the wing you have freedom and more open space = heaven for a tenacious dribbler like Sanchez.

Just look at those stats yourself, Cazorla playing CM had better stats than Ozil playing as n10. Ok, Cazorla took penalties, but assists? There's no excuse for assists.

Again you don't seem to understand the concept of an assist: the assister has little to do with it being an assist. That is all down to the goalscorer being able to convert the key pass into a shot attempt, and then convert that shot attempt into a goal. The assister's skill is based on decision-making. When, where, how.

The difference over a whole season would have been 3.5 goals, so the offset is microscopic in normal timespans, since players usually don't play 38 games per season. In other words, when it comes to goals and assists, Özil and Cazorla were basically on the same level last season.

However, Cazorla played almost 3,000 minutes while Özil didn't even reach 1,900 minutes. Cazorla was in form for a long time and wasn't injured a single day. In fact, Cazorla has only been injured once in the last two years, he was out for 32 days between September-October 2013.

Özil was out for 100 days last season, so of course his stats won't be as impressive. It takes time to recover from injury, and when you do you usually play on half speed. From that perspective, keeping similar stats as an in-form Cazorla is very impressive.

And we're STILL only talking about goals and assists.

I kind of got tired of this discussion. But I still can't fathom the desperate defence of Ozil when it's absolutely obvious he's been a flop so far.

Especially with that "OFF THE BALL" stuff. When Ozil isn't on the ball he's just invisible. I literally go like "where the hell is he?". He's often said to run a lot but I still can't understand why he bothers because all that running doesn't lead to anything useful, unlike with Sanchez, Ramsey, Walcott, etc

The player who actually has some visible "off the ball" movement is Walcott. He's always looking to make a run in behind and makes defenders shit their pants.

I realise we're stuck long-term with Ozil, and can only hope he somehow improves, but it's hard to see how could that possibly happen.

You keep disregarding the facts presented against you, so of course you can't fathom it.

LOL - another Ozil show against Watford and now has the most assists in the PL and the most chances created in the whole of Europe (and second on the all time career list in the history of the game for assists). It is absolutely BRILLIANT to see all these media pundits and sheeple that spout their bias views humiliated by Ozil.

Hopefully we can get 11 'frauds' in our team.
